Winding down for 2021

Don't worry, there's still plenty of growing time left for the season! But...it may not be the best time to get started with one of the little cuttings of annuals that have been the mainstay of our roadside stand this summer.

But that doesn't mean we're shutting it down, not just yet! We've been collecting seeds as they ripen throughout the second half of the summer, and now the harvest is really kicking into gear! We're going to start getting these into little envelopes and packets to put by the roadside before the snow arrives, so you'll be all set for winter or spring planting!

Four O'Clocks in bloom

So far, we've got a ton of seeds for our beautiful magenta four o'clocks (aka the Marvel of Peru); and a bunch for our native beauties, evening primrose (Oenothera biennis, the wild cousin of the popular sundrops). We're also working on collecting seeds from cosmos, impatiens, petunias, gloriosa daisies, rose of Sharon, and the lovely blanket flowers that volunteered in our yard; we might even collect some poke seeds for those who want to grow this wildlife-supporting native plant!

By spring, we also hope to have some dahlia tubers divided and ready to grow, since we had such great luck with them this season.

If you've got seeds to share, cut flowers, produce, or other harvests from your gardens that you can't use yourself, feel free to drop them off to share with your community! We'll do our best to take care of anything that's left, but please keep in mind that they may be exposed to varied weather conditions 🌦️

Stop by to pick up or drop off, and we hope you all enjoy the rest of your gardening season!
